Summarized all the scenes of the first 2  acts of the play. Students covered the key plot events, key quotes, and key images from each scene of Act I and Act II. Ties to big themes were also explored. Students then recorded themselves explaining their windows on the iPad or the flip cameras. Happy Halloween!

Great speech by Gibby today! "Better to reign in hell than serve in Heaven!"

We finished Paradise Lost today with Gibson performing the last great lines. Then we watched a couple of examples of student videos and then students worked on their own projects for the rest of the class. Field trip tomorrow for filming!! Dress warmly and bring your props!!

Please write your full post in the "comments" section. I suggest you type it out in "word" and then copy and paste into the comments (in case there is a problem with it saving). Please use your Lit name to sign it.  Consider this a "free write". Please show me evidence of thought and reflection on your experiences today.

What did you learn about the person you met today?
What did you learn about yourself, and how you will approach your future? Please take care with these responses. Thank you again for your maturity today.

Today we left the complicated themes and imagery of the Metaphysical poets and traded it for the "Seize the Day" motto of the Cavalier Poets. We wrote our "Life Lists" which included some very inspirational (and some very entertaining) goals. Just remember, if each person in the class did just ONE thing from their life list, what an amazing collection of experiences it would be! We finished off by studying the Cavalier poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" by Robert Herrick. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may! Have a great Thanksgiving weekend everyone!

We started on the Metaphysical Poets and used the Sheep Smashing ceremony to emphasize that the metaphysical poets used CONCEITS to bring obscure ideas and images together in their poetry (like a sheep and a desk). Then we created some photos to capture the key images of "Holy Sonnet 6". DEATH!THOU SHALT DIE!!

Started the "Sonnet-Song" assignment in the computer lab. Then we experimented with our own version of "The Great Chain of Being" which was a key in Elizabethan society. Finally we discussed the incredibly important question: "What do a sheep and a desk have in common?" The true purpose of this activity will be revealed tomorrow....  Finally: happy birthday to Destiny, Dustin, and Harman!
